Legal status of growkits and spores by country (Nordic countries)
Buyers often ask which countries allow the sale and possession of magic mushroom growkits and spores. The rules differ a lot between neighbouring countries, so we summarise the publicly available legal information below. This is general information only, not legal advice - laws change, so always check the current regulation in your own country before ordering.
Norway
In Norway, Psilocybe cubensis and Psilocybe semilanceata are named directly in the Norwegian narcotics regulation (Forskrift om narkotika, list under Section 5), and the listing explicitly covers mushroom spores as well as cultivated, dried or otherwise processed mushrooms of these species. In practice this means growkits and spores of these species are treated as a controlled substance in Norway and are not legal to sell, import or possess there.
Sweden
Sweden generally treats spores and growkits differently from the fruiting mushroom itself: spores are commonly considered legal, and growing mycelium is legal, but growing the actual fruiting bodies (mushrooms) is not, since psilocybin/psilocin only develop once the mushroom fruits.
Denmark
In Denmark, growing, processing, selling and possessing psilocybin mushrooms has been prohibited since 1 July 2001, when the Danish Ministry of Health added them to the controlled substances rules. Public information on the status of unfruited spores alone is limited, so we cannot confirm a separate exemption for spores in Denmark - please verify with a current, official Danish source before ordering.
Finland
Since 1 September 2008, the Finnish Penal Code (Chapter 50) specifically criminalises growing (and attempting to grow) Psilocybe mushrooms. We could not confirm from public sources whether unfruited spores alone are treated separately from cultivation - please verify current Finnish regulation before ordering.
