The Growkit contains the following components

1. a plastic box with a substrate pre-spread with mycelium (the substrate is a special mixture that facilitates the growth of mycelium)
2. a plastic bag with special air-filtering inserts for gas exchange
3. two clips - remember to wrap only the top of the bag and not the whole bag

Psilocybe cubensis Mazatapec were discovered in the Mazatec region, which is located in the southern part of Mexico, mainly in the state of Oaxaca. The name 'Mazatapec' comes from the Mazatec people who inhabit the area and have a deep history of using mushrooms in their rituals.

The Mazatec people have used psilocybin mushrooms for thousands of years in their spiritual and healing ceremonies. These mushrooms, known locally as 'niños santos' (sacred children), were used by shamans and curanderos (healers) to communicate with spirits, heal and predict the future. These ceremonies were conducted to obtain visions, spiritual guidance and to cure physical and mental ailments.

Mazatapec mushrooms gained international fame in the 1950s when mycologist R. Gordon Wasson and his wife Valentina travelled to Mexico and participated in a mushroom ceremony led by the famous healer Maria Sabina. Their accounts and publications contributed to the interest in mushrooms in western countries, including Psilocybe cubensis Mazatapec.
