How to use the liquid mushroom?

Using liquid mycelium involves several steps between having a liquid mushroom culture and harvesting a crop of edible mushrooms.

1. Prepare the grain to be inoculated with the liquid culture: soaking the grain, cooking the grain and drying the grain.
2. Place the grain in a bag or jar and place it in a pressure cooker.
3. At this stage, your bags or jars are ready to be inoculated with liquid mycelium.
4. Wait for the mycelium to grow for 3 to 10 days after inoculation.
5. Smashing and stirring the grain through the bag helps to speed up the final phase of colonisation.

Preparing the Jars

The first step is to prepare the jars. Cover the lids of the jars with a prepared 2mm diameter hole with aluminium foil.

Sterilising the grain

Next, prepare the bag of cereal. Boil the bag of grain for 90 minutes at 15 PSI to sterilise the grain.

Adding the Mycelium to the Grain

Once cooled, the bag of grain or jar is ready to be inoculated with liquid mycelium. Add the mycelium to the grain and then seal the hole with tape.

Waiting for the Mycelium to grow

After inoculation, wait for the mycelium to grow. This process can take between 3 and 10 days.
